Are there any home remedies or tips for getting your bunny to stop chewing on the edges of the wall?
I know I read something in here a while ago answering that question, but I cant find it and I dont remember what the answer was. 4 comments - Leave a comment

bunnyowners [ sarcasm_hime ] | 10th. November, 2009 06:05 pm Buns in advertising... Apologies if this is off-topic...but I keep seeing this ad around.
Anybody else notice what's wrong with this (admittedly cute) picture? ;D
(click for bigger version)

Edit: Okay I guess there's all sorts of things wrong with it! LOL The one that caught my eye immediately was the fact that the Mini-Rex 'hero' has such long straight perfect whiskers when Mini-Rexes have short curly whiskers (if they have any at all). Clearly they felt he was inadequately endowed in the whisker department and gave him some falsies. :P 4 comments - Leave a comment

bunnyowners [ mellzzie ] | 10th. November, 2009 04:50 pm Hello! What's the best way to clean up pee off of the carpet? I've read white vinegar works but wasn't sure. Also, is there ANY way to get my bun to stop trying to dig up the carpet? it's only the corners of rooms that she does it, and i know it's very normal..just wanted to know if there's a way to get her to stop. I've heard to rub perfume on the area, but tried and it didn't do much good. Anyone have any suggestions?
And one more question! My bun gets spayed thursday. Her cage has a second level that she loves to jump up on, even though there's a ramp for her to use. Will this hurt her when she's healing? I don't know if she'll even feel like jumping up there but i just wanted to make sure.
Thank you all :) 5 comments - Leave a comment

bunnyowners [ goodgirlzero ] | 9th. November, 2009 07:18 pm Grunt, hump and plants? I have a few questions. 1. Since Trix was fixed (2ish weeks ago) he has been more grunty to me. All times where when I had to reach into the cage to get something out. He just keeps grunting at me. Hardly lets me pet him now.. He also has been wanting to stay in his cage a lot. I dont know if it was because at first we moved him to the smaller cage due to getting fixed so he didnt like being in the cage Cow had been in. But I moved him back like a day or two ago and although I havent heard any grunts he still is being very cozy in his cage...
2.How do you know when the two males are actually fighting? We are still getting Cow fixed but I introduced them this past weekend again to see how it went. The first time they met lots of humping, biting, etc. No squeeling or grunting though. A little bit of hair from trix but he is really hairy and shedding too so I didnt know if it was fighting hair. The second time they kept trying to hump and nibble.. Still no grunting, biting, or squeeling. They dont seem to be hurting eachother but how am I supposed to know when they are since they dont show pain easily.
3. What plants are okay to be around rabbits. I would like to have some house plants but Im not going to get anything that can harm my bunnies. 1 comment - Leave a comment

bunnyowners [ peasncues ] | 9th. November, 2009 07:56 pm My rabbits sat and watched several episodes of Voltron this evening. Sure it was probably the seizure-inducing flashing colors, but it's still pretty cute!

bunnyowners [ anjel_kitty ] | 9th. November, 2009 10:38 am Red wigglers and Bunnies: The perfect marriage for your plant children Hello all. I'm rounding up the end of my gardening season, and wanted to update those who are interested on how things turned out in addition to sharing some great information I've come across about vermiculture and rabbits.
To check out my garden project, what grew well, and what didn't check out my bunspace
Also of interest I've been following Red Worm Composting, by way of an Rss feed: http://syndicated.livejournal.com/redwormcompost/profile And there have been several posts about worm composting with rabbits: Composting rabbit manure with baking soda - According to this baking soda is bad for the worms, but composting bunny litter, especially the paper kind is a great way to get good compost for your garden. Also he suggests cutting down on the smell of the litter with some peat moss which I'm going to try next.
Composting under rabbit cages- This is a great idea about composting directly under your rabbit cage. I plan on setting this up the next place I live. Rather than using any sort of mesh that would hurt their little bunny feet, I plan on putting their litter box over a sliding door that will drop all the litter into the worm bin when it is pulled up. This could possibly be a problem with flies (I've already been having an issue with flies already) but I think with a good mix of peat moss it could work well even with my indoor rabbits.
From personal experience, I can say that composting my bunnies' used litter with worms worked really well. I'd just dump the whole contents of my rabbit litter into the worm bin and then give it about 2 weeks. I'd then turn it over and find the worms had turned nearly all of it into compost. Of course having 3 rabbits means that I have to clean the litter more often than that so, I do end up still having to throw it out. I'm hoping the next place I live will afford me more room so I can have multiple worm bins going that way I can have zero waste produced from my bunnies.
As far as manure goes, you can't get anything better than rabbit manure. My plants all grew really well and besides the occasional bout of tomato worms, and a heat wave in July, I had really great success feeding my plants compost every other month.
To conclude, as rabbit owners we are in a perfect position to all have amazing gardens because of the nature of rabbit manure. Further, with worm composting, we can essentially produce zero waste from our pets and have a really good combination for compost that you could even sell.
Anyway I hope to see this inspire more rabbit/worm projects in light of all my success. Current Mood: accomplished

bunnyowners [ azrielsdaughter ] | 9th. November, 2009 09:06 am Third Fixing And the headache is complete- Jack is currently at the vet for his neutering (wish him luck!).
I'm now, or shortly will be, the proud momma of three fixed bunnies. :D And a dog, but I digress, heh.
Hopefully this helps with his territorial behavior and biting issues. Dmitri is just now starting to calm down with humping- he spent an hour or so with Niko in her cage last night, grooming and relaxing, before he decided she smelled nice enough to mount and was promptly scooped out of there. He spent a few minutes in the bedroom free-range with Jack as well (and FLED in terror from him, for no reason it seemed, I was confused by it...maybe I was missing a mean!bunny cue from Jack that Dmitri was picking up on, though).
Anyway, hopefully all the buns will calm down now and I can start bonding my brood together. =) Any tips for making Jack comfy tonight? He's a very nervous guy (huffs and puffs when picked up, very twitchy, GOOD LUCK getting him to trance) so I want him to be comfortable and not scared even though he'll be in pain from the surgery. My other two buns are very chilled out so after their surgery they just loafed in their cages and relaxed. This guy is way more twitchy and easily upset than them. He's even tried to jump out of his cage once or twice- 4-5 feet in the air. :\ Leave a comment

stealthbunny | 9th. November, 2009 10:52 am It's a mild rant-n-rave this time, but no less heartfelt.
It's bad enough when the music from your teens has become fodder for tv commercials.
But when it has been compiled on OLDIES CDS... Totally Oldies from the 80s... there is nothing like that to make you suddenly feel ancient on a Monday morning.
EDIT: Thank gods the next song was Footloose. It may be a Totally Oldie... but at least you can't sit still when it's on. (dances in her chair and types in rhythm) Current Mood: shocked

bunnyowners [ whoffleck ] | 8th. November, 2009 11:45 pm Feisty Bunny Hi all! I got my bunny from a lionhead breeder 2 months ago. He is less than 6 months old and I knew that it would take time for him to get adjusted to his new environment and surroundings. The only (and most important) problem is: he is VERY sassy! I try not to scare him when I pick him up, but he still finds a way to bite me. Even when he willingly lets me pick him up and I try to play with him on the floor, he sometimes 'attacks' me. He even growls a little! It has actually been worse in the last month, because in the first month, I took him to the vet for a check-up and he wasn't nearly as aggressive... NO idea why he has such an attitude most of the time.
Any recommendations on what I can possibly do to gain his trust/affection?
Thanks in advance!
