Altaira - Fabric

20th. September, 2007 04:22 pm Fabric

I bought some fabric last week that I fell in love with immediately.  It is 2.5m by 1.4m and cost £6.  The only problems is, what should I make with it?!  I'm thinking maybe cushions?  It's quite a thick cotton - and to give you an idea of scale, the bunnies are about 4cm from ear tips to back feet.

Suggestions gratefully accepted!

You could learn to quilt, and get other fabrics to go with it, and make a small lap blanket to snuggle in the winter?

I really love that fabric. It's hard to find bunny fabric that is nice, rather than a bit tacky. Where was it from?

I would be tempted by cushions. I use an eye mask to sleep and I would be really tempted to make one those too.

Someone mentioned quilting, which sounds great. I've done patchworks with an assortment of fabric in hexagons. You could always do that and have some contrasting colours, but make that fabric the focus. Then you normally use a sewing machine to put the hexagons together, get some wadding for the inside and then sew on a plain back with the wadding in the middle.

The fabric came from a small "bits and bobs" shop in Sittingbourne, but according to the info stamped up the side it was made by "Designers Guild Ltd" and is called "Easter Bunny".

I'm certainly interested in the quilt idea, my nan gave me a lot of crafts books a while back and I am sure quilting is in there. Whatever I decide to do, I will post pictures of the finished article here!
